What is the Capability Maturity Model (CMM)?

The Capability Maturity Model (CMM) is a maturity model that is used for the standardized assessment of the software development process and the evaluation of organizational improvement measures. CMM describes the maturity level of the capability in five successive stages of the software process for configuring organizations and determining the measures to improve it:

  • Initial

  • Repeatable

  • Defined

  • Managed

  • Optimized
