Create digital work instructions and document each assembly step in a step-by-step guide

Anyone who distributes work and assembly instructions as Word files or printed PDFs struggles with outdated versions, versions that are impossible to find, and instructions that no one ever refers to in their day-to-day work. In Testify, each instruction is created once in the Checklist Designer: sections map out the work steps, and checks represent the individual specifications—optionally as a numerical value, multiple-choice question, photo, or calculation. Tolerance limits automatically flag invalid entries. Using test object types, assemblies and product variants can be mapped hierarchically, so that each variant receives its own valid set of instructions. Thanks to translation management, all language versions are generated from a single database, eliminating the need to maintain documents in duplicate.

On the assembly line, employees work directly in the Testify app, on a tablet or smartphone, even without an active internet connection. Scanning a QR code or NFC tag on the component immediately opens the applicable instructions for that specific assembly. Each step can be documented with a photo, video, or sketch, ensuring that even new employees or those who speak a different language can understand the instructions without needing to ask for clarification. Required fields prevent steps from being skipped, and thanks to speech-to-text, comments can be recorded even while wearing gloves or with dirty hands. This significantly shortens the training period and ensures consistent execution across all shifts.

If a component doesn’t fit, material is missing, or a measurement deviates, the defect is logged directly in the relevant work step, along with a photo, severity level, and defect category. Testify automatically assigns it to the responsible person in production management or quality assurance and notifies them via email and push notification. Rework continues as a task with a deadline and assigned responsibility, and the defect timeline documents every step with a timestamp. This ensures there is no disconnect between assembly, quality assurance, and engineering, and recurring issues become visible instead of getting lost in verbal requests and emails.

If a work step changes, the instruction is updated centrally and the latest version is immediately available at all workstations. The revision history shows who changed what and when, ensuring that no one is working from an outdated version. For every completed assembly order, Testify automatically generates an audit-proof inspection report in PDF format, including a serial number and digital signature upon request. In the reporting section, manufacturing and quality management can see which assemblies, shifts, or locations have a high incidence of deviations. For more in-depth analyses, the data can be transferred directly to Power BI or the existing ERP system.
