What is the Capability Maturity Model (CMM)?

The Capability Maturity Model (CMM) is a maturity model that is used for the standardized assessment of the software development process as well as for the assessment of organizational improvement measures. CMM describes the maturity level of the capability in five successive stages of the software process for the configuration of organizations as well as for the determination of measures for the improvement of the same:

  • Initial
  • Repeatable
  • Defined
  • Managed
  • Optimized
