New Testify functions for even more efficient checklist processes.

Here you will find current reports, articles, news and reports on the topics of digitalization, quality management, process optimization and much more.
NL Features

An incredible amount has happened at Testify in the past year. We have more than doubled the number of employees, we have implemented many great digitalization projects and we have added great features to our software. But one thing has remained the same: Supporting industrial companies in the digitalization of quality processes.

Today, however, we would like to take a closer look at the many new enhancements to the software, which we have summarized for you below.

You can look forward to these new features:

Automated workflows in Testify

Workflows enable the automation of work processes within Testify by allowing predefined actions to trigger certain events. By using webhooks, information can be transferred to external systems in order to trigger actions there. Another advantage of using workflows is the history for better traceability.

Use case/example:
– Publication of a checklist when adding a test object or creating a defect
– Initiation of a sequence of related checklists
– PDF generation after checklist execution or after creating a defect
– Webhook: Save PDF log to external system
– Easier programming of interfaces of any kind
– Workflows can be used to promote successive process optimization. For example, it would be possible to automatically assign a checklist after critical defects have been created in order to initiate a continuous improvement process.
– In the ongoing process, checklists are often left in “in progress” status in the meantime. Workflows can also be used to avoid incomplete PDFs, which only lead to additional work. For example, workflows could be used so that when a checklist receives the status “completed”, a PDF is automatically created according to the desired protocol.

You can find more information about workflows here.

New PDF test reports in Custom CI

In addition to an improved design, the new PDF reports offer many variable setting options that can be customized as required in the PDF report profiles. For checklist templates, you can specify exactly which templates are required. As many profiles as necessary can be configured according to your own company-specific requirements. Background images and various additional information make it possible to display the corporate design in a compliant manner. Designs.

The new PDF protocols are often used in this way:

  • For example, you can use it to differentiate between internal checklist logs and external logs and adapt the content and appearance accordingly. This ensures that only relevant information is communicated externally.
    • Internal checklist protocols can, for example, contain detailed information about defects that have occurred.
    • External checklist protocols can, for example, include the inspection itself without specifying defects.
  • Inspection reports such as machine tests or outgoing goods inspections can be sent to stakeholders in the company’s corporate design.

You can find more information on the new PDF protocols here.

Import & Export with Excel

To simplify the creation of data in Testify, it is possible to import/export it via Excel. This is particularly useful if a large amount of data is new or needs to be updated.

This function is often used here:

  • Test object types and test objects
  • Measuring equipment types and measuring equipment
  • User-defined fields
  • Deficiency categories
  • Users
  • Groups
  • The import and export function of various entities for independent data mirroring is particularly useful when using a test environment.
  • If several clients are in use that require the same basic data basis, the key user can transfer data independently.

Client-specific translations

By translating various terms in Testify, an even more individualized mapping of the company structure is possible. Testify can therefore be used for any form of inspection. From driver’s license checks and health checks to production-related quality controls, you can adapt the terminology in Testify to your use case.

Here you will find a selection of examples:

  • In the case of safety tours, the term “checklist” can be changed to tour, or “defects” to reports
  • Test object (types) can be changed to machine categories & machines or organizational units & areas

Embedded Power BI analyses

Testify now has a wider range of analyses, which are now embedded in Testify and can be accessed directly via the app menu. Additional licenses for Microsoft Power BI no longer need to be purchased separately.

The evaluations include analyses on a checklist, test result and defect basis. Testify also has other detailed dashboards that cover specific use cases perfectly. These include

  • Quality control chart
  • Scoring analyses
  • Evaluations of the user-defined fields
  • Detailed key figure evaluations in management reporting for checklists, defects, measurement results & defect and checklist processes

You can find more information on the evaluation options here.

Scoring in checklists

The new evaluation function allows different weighting of answer options in the context of checks. For each check, points can now be stored for the respective answer option. This results in a total number of points per check, which is then set in relation to the maximum number of points to be achieved.

  • Scoring is particularly helpful when conducting audits or to initiate follow-up processes in the event of negative audits. Among other things, the scoring feature is used when carrying out 5S audits.

You can find more information on scoring here

Flexible checklist closures

There are now more flexible restrictions for completing the checklist in the template settings. Various check and defect requirements can be defined and you can choose between an error or warning message. The signature can now also be set as mandatory.

Use case/example:

  • Warning when leaving or closing the checklist for an open defect
  • Display warning when exiting / error when closing if checklist has not been completed in full. This can be useful for all checks that need to be completed in full.
  • Display a note to be signed by the person completing the checklist to confirm completion.

Tags for checklist templates

Use tags to group, filter and find the same checklist templates even better. This function is often used to organize checklist templates according to task areas or subdivisions.

User-defined calculations for checks

User-defined calculations offer a great deal of flexibility and freedom when creating tests. In addition to several input values, user-defined formulas can be used, which are taken into account based on the mathematical rules.

Use case/example:
– This check is used in regular quality control, among other things. The percentage deviation can be measured using the average of the random samples. Depending on the result of this calculation, the check is positive or negative and measures can be initiated if necessary.
– When goods are received, this user-defined check enables the total weight of batches to be calculated.

Text search in checklists

The text search in checklists allows you to enter search terms within a checklist in order to reach a desired check, section or page.

Thanks to search suggestions, which are displayed as a drop-down when the term is entered, it is possible to find the desired search term quickly.

This function is particularly helpful:

  • For hierarchically structured or long checklists that map an entire process. This allows different checks to be searched for and executed flexibly.

Optional sections

For a better structure, checklists can contain pages and sections in addition to checks. For sections, you can set whether they are mandatory or not. For optional sections, you can set whether they are activated or deactivated by default.

Example of use:

  • The optional section can be added to a standard checklist that is suitable for an entire machine group in order to query specific questions per machine. This means that the number of checklists can be reduced to a manageable level and a separate checklist template does not have to be created for each machine type.

Subscribing to test object types

By subscribing to test object types, you receive notifications in the Testify app about checklists and defects that have been created for a subscribed test object type. This means that people are always informed about the current status, what is currently happening in this area, whether tests have been carried out properly and whether problems have arisen during the inspection.

Use case/example:

  • The person receives a notification if, for example, a defect is discovered during a safety inspection at the Linz/Hall E site.
  • The process owner will be informed as soon as the checklist for the annual fire safety inspection has been published.

Improved offline functionality – PWA

Thanks to the improved offline functionality, users remain logged in after closing the app. This makes it possible to restart the app and restore the previous session if the device is offline.

Use case/example:

  • Reopening the app despite no internet connection.
  • Close and reopen the app
  • The advantage of this extension is that while the Testify app is running in offline mode, it can be reopened even if the app is closed in the meantime – without login & without an internet connection. This also applies when the device is restarted.
