What is a quality control chart?
The quality control chart(QC) is used in quality management to evaluate inspection data. It is used to evaluate processes with regard to their quality consistency over time (process stability). If there is a significant change in the process, the quality control chart indicates the direction in which the change is taking place. This can be an increase in the quality spread and/or a change in the position of the quality characteristic. Statistical sample characteristics (e.g. sample mean value and sample standard deviation of the quality characteristic) and warning, intervention and tolerance limits are displayed graphically for this purpose.
