Glossary: Audit

What is an audit?

Audits are inspection processes and questionnaires for regular monitoring of compliance with legal, contractual and internal rules relating to compliance, performance and process quality. Such a procedure is often carried out as part of quality management. The audits are usually carried out by a specially trained auditor. There are static audits (carried out once per audit cycle) and dynamic audits (recurring audits on the process, trends, developments and effectiveness of measures).
