Glossary: Error collection card

What is an error collection card or an error collection list?

A defect collection card, also known as a defect collection list, is a test sheet and is used as part of a quality control process. Only the number of defects and no measured values are entered in a defect collection card. This means that only attributive values such as the type of defect are recorded. The number of faults for fault designations such as optics are entered in a predefined table using a tally sheet. Error collection cards can only be evaluated using the number of errors and not using variable data, as is the case with measured values.

An error collection card serves as an effective tool in the context of process improvements in order to identify frequencies and initiate a root cause analysis.
