What is the 7-S model?
The 7-S model depicts a company with seven core variables that are essential for shaping the company and at the same time identify starting points for intervention. Originally conceived as a tool for management consultants, the model can also be used to secure competitive advantage.
- strategy
- structure
- systems
- special skills (skills)
- core staff (staff)
- style/culture
- self-image (shared values/superordinate goals)
The 7-S-model distinguishes between “hard factors” (strategy, structure, systems – also cold triangle) and “soft factors” (skills, staff, style, shared values – also warm quadrilateral).
