What is a web service?
A web service is a service that can be accessed via a network. Web services are intended for machine-to-machine communication (M2M communication). Data is exchanged and functions are called up on remote computers (servers). A web API (web service) must be distinguished from a “normal” API. A web service also contains an API but also offers a web service.
