What are measurement standards?

Measurement standards are physical precision reference sources (= comparison quantities) which are used for calibration, adjustment and determination of the value of an unknown quantity. With them the manufacturer can specify the technical characteristic values of his products & their tolerances. For this purpose, there are a large number of different standards in the electrical industry.
