What is an audit?

Audits are test processes and questionnaires for regular monitoring of compliance with legal, contractual and internal rules relating to compliance, performance and process quality. Such a process is often carried out as part of a quality management system. The audits are usually carried out by an auditor specially trained for this purpose. There are static audits (performed once per audit cycle) and dynamic audits (recurring audits on process, trends, developments and effectiveness of measures).
