Software as a Service (SaaS)

Software as a Service is a cloud computing model. In contrast to conventional software applications, SaaS is made available via the internet. Servers, databases and code are hosted and maintained by the software provider. This means that users do not have to worry about the underlying infrastructure.
Advantages of SaaS
  • Cost savings: As SaaS is usually based on a subscription model, there are fewer up-front costs. Companies can therefore spread the costs over a longer period of time.
  • Flexibility and accessibility: SaaS facilitates flexible collaboration as users can easily access applications from any device with an internet connection.
  • Automatic updates and maintenance: The latest features can be utilised without the need for manual updates or IT support. SaaS providers take care of software updates and maintenance.
